A Criminal Investigation Of A Pastor

You could read about it here.

As some of you may know that Pastor Robert Morris resigned from Gateway Church because he admitted to sexual immorality with a minor at the time.

We already know that Robert Morris is a false teacher based on the many messages he's preached over the years.

As one person appropriately said, "sexual immorality and false teaching goes hand in hand."

The Lord warned us that in the last days, many false prophets would rise up.

Matthew 24:11 (NKJV)

"Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many."

Regarding the alleged incident, it appeared at first that a "statute of limitations" would prevent a criminal investigation. Apparently not. If I'm correct, in Texas, if that's where the crime occurred, there's no statute of limitations on sex with a minor.

Jude 1:4 (NKJV)

"For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ."

Lewdness is defined as......

(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong's Dictionary) g0766. ἀσέλγεια aselgeia; from a compound of 1 (as a negative particle) and a presumed σελγής selgēs (of uncertain derivation, but apparently meaning continent); licentiousness (sometimes including other vices): — filthy, lasciviousness, wantonness.

The filthy behavior of pastors pervert the gospel of Jesus Christ.

When lust enters the heart, nothing but filthiness proceeds out of them.

Matthew 15:18-20 (NKJV)

"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

When a man lacks self control, nothing but evil will come out.

Robert Morris, if he fails to repent of these allegations, he's condemned already.

John 3:18-21 (NKJV) “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Robert Morris allegedly committed this crime when the victim was 12 years old. This alleged crime was committed between 1982 to 1987.

Robert kept this alleged crime hidden for about 40 years.

Psalms 90:8 (NKJV)

"You have set our iniquities before You,

Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance."

Luke 8:17 (NKJV) "For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light."

Luke 12:2 (NKJV) "For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known."

Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV)

"And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

The alleged crime disqualified him from assuming the pulpit in the first place.

But he proceeded to assume the role of pastor.

The fear that he had in his heart for so many years is now before him.

You can only imagine that for so many years, the footsteps of the authorities were getting louder and louder. Even though this alleged crime was committed, the most important thing is that for all of these years, the Lord desired for Robert to repent and place faith on Christ alone.

This is now a criminal investigation and in the next few days, weeks, or months, if the police and prosecution find sufficient evidence that a crime took place, he will facing charges. He most likely will be arrested. If this goes to trial or if a plea bargain is reached, he'll be declared a sexual predator and he will have to register himself as a sexual predator for the rest of his life wherever he resides.

Not to mention spending time in jail.

Additionally, these 4 elders that were suspended from Gateway that knew what Robert Morris may have done criminally, they may be just witnesses of the facts, and the investigators are just asking questions to build their case against Robert.

It's a lessons learned situation.

The Lord doesn't tolerate sin. Robert Morris had no business in the pulpit to begin with. He's allegedly committed a crime and it should have raised red flags not to allow him to preach.

All around the world, preachers commit sexual immorality.

Revelation chapters 2 and 3 reveal that sexual immorality was a major issue in 2 of the 7 churches and the Lord Jesus warned them to repent.

Paul shared in Ephesians 5:8-14 (NKJV)

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,

Arise from the dead,

And Christ will give you light.”

What's hidden will eventually come to the light.
