Gog OF Magog, Not Gog AND Magog

Every now and then you get corrected. It's about being right so we have to kill our ego and just receive the correction. Remember. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for CORRECTION (straightening up again), for instruction in righteousness."

And.......

James 4:6 (NKJV) But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud,

But gives grace to the humble.”

1 Peter 5:5-6 (NKJV) "Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time...."

For years, I've always said "Gog AND Magog" because Revelation 20:8 (NKJV) says.....

"...and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea."

But I never thought to check Ezekiel 38:1-3 (NKJV) "Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against you, (Gog).

Ezekiel 39:1 (NKJV) “And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal;"

Then I did a quick word study in Revelation 20:8. So a FB friend corrected me and so you know what I always do.

When corrected, search it out for yourself, because I could read things and miss it just like we all do.

It's not Gog AND Magog even though it was recorded in the Greek by John the apostle.

From Strong's Concordance......

GOG

g1136. Γώγ Gōg; of Hebrew origin (h1463); Gog, a symbolic name for some future Antichrist: — Gog.

AV (1) - Gog 1; Gog = "mountain"

the king of the land of Magog who will come from the north and attack the land of Israel.

AND

g2532. καί kai; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words: — and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.

AV (9249) - and 8172, also 514, even 108, both 43, then 20, so 18, likewise 13, not tr. 348, misc 32, vr and 1;

and, also, even, indeed, but - Frequency count based on 1894 Scrivener Greek New Testament.

MAGOG

g3098. Μαγώγ Magōg; of Hebrew origin (h4031); Magog, a foreign nation, i.e. (figuratively) an Antichristian party: — Magog.

AV (1) - Magog 1; Magog = "overtopping: covering"

a land north of Israel from which the King of Gog will come to attack Israel."

The Greek is very clear about "AND" but when you study the Bible, you always study the part in light of the whole.

Scripture interprets Scripture. Nonetheless....Gog is a king, and Magog is the kingdom. The conjunction "AND" was probably added by mistake. The error is never with God. The error is always with man and we all miss it.

Why?

We hear other teachers teach it this way and we never slow down to investigate and examine the text.

So, thanks to the Lord that used a FB friend. I stand corrected.
