Is it Biblical for Christians to vote or should true believers refrain and abstain?
The true citizens of the United States get's its leaders through a process of voting.
But let's define certain things.
The United States is a Republic, not a Democracy.
Here's the difference.
REPUBLIC
From Wikipedia "...republic, based on the Latin phrase res publica ("public affair"), is a state in which political power rests with the public through their representatives—in contrast to a monarchy.[1][2]"
DEMOCRACY
"...in a direct democracy, the people have the direct authority to deliberate and decide legislation. In a representative democracy, the people choose governing officials through elections to do so. Who is considered part of "the people" and how authority is shared among or delegated by the people...."
So once a person gains power by being elected into office by the people, they have authority to deliberate and decide through legislation certain laws to govern the people.
But the people have the power by way of the voting process, to determine who will assume office, and the person that win the election by majority vote, that's how what laws enacted will govern the people.
The president, because of checks and balances, or rule of separation of powers, cannot legislate.
Only Congress can legislate.
Unconstitutional and Constitutional laws are determined by the Supreme Court of 9 justices.
The reason why this is important for us to know is that as long as the US Constitution is there, this Republic is governed by the people, and not by elected officials.
But when laws are enacted, it takes a person to bring a suit to seek relief from the courts by filing a court case to overturn such laws that violate the constitution.
The people pay the bills and salaries of government elected officials.
We must understand that every person voted into office is the combination of the wicked and the righteous. The wicked and the righteous are in both political parties because not every person is born again.
Believers in Christ and even the wicked know the difference between the wicked and righteous leaders.
In the shadows of politics, the wicked schemes that lurk behind politicians appear after they win their respective election. All politicians seeking office want to show their best light and they'll never reveal the dark agenda.
It's left up to a true born again believer in Christ to participate in the political process, but a true believer knows not to trust in politics alone according to Jeremiah 17:5-10.
There's nothing in Scripture that prevents participation in the voting process. Just know that everyone that's seeking to occupy an office, that some are righteous and the others are wicked. Some are true to their word, and others aren't true to their word.
The United States goes through a back and forth in politics.
Each party exercises incremental control to achieve their goals.
They wait for power and then once they've gained that power, their goals are almost achieved.
What's the goal?
Absolute control over all of your freedoms.
Totalitarianism and anarchy.
But good politicians see anarchy and they do everything legally to check that unconstitutional unrighteous power.
Cheating at the polls is now a regular occurrence. With AI (Artificial Intelligence) the possibilities of evil are more possible.
God knows the hearts of men and when we seek the Lord, the Lord keeps back the forces of evil so that the unrighteous doesn't exceed His will over the righteous.
Note these Proverbs.
Proverbs 11:10 (NKJV)
When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices;
And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
Look around you. Is your city rejoicing or is it in trouble?
Proverbs 11:11 (NKJV)
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,
But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
How many times has the wicked agenda came and overthrow justice, allowing criminals to escape justice?
Proverbs 12:7 (NKJV)
The wicked are overthrown and are no more,
But the house of the righteous will stand.
Proverbs 17:15 (NKJV)
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
How many times have you seen the wicked back out on the street to commit more crime, and committing worse crimes, but the righteous are locked up?
Proverbs 17:23 (NKJV)
A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back
To pervert the ways of justice.
Bribery is all in the system of politics and money is always passed under the table.
Proverbs 18:5 (NKJV)
It is not good to show partiality to the wicked,
Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
We've seen the weaponization of the legal system where the wicked is given a free pass and the righteous that seeks to end such corruption are overthrown.
Proverbs 19:28 (NKJV)
A disreputable witness scorns justice,
And the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.
Proverbs 21:7 (NKJV)
The violence of the wicked will destroy them,
Because they refuse to do justice.
In the end, those that perpetrate violence, it will destroy them. they refuse to do justice.
Proverbs 24:19 (NKJV)
Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the wicked;
Regardless of who's in office, the righteous need not to be upset. The Lord will make the wicked bow their knee to the Lord, one way or another.
Proverbs 24:24 (NKJV)
He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Him the people will curse;
This is when you know that the wicked have done wickedly, but they're declared to be a saint. This is perversion of justice.
Proverbs 28:4-5 (NKJV) Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
But such as keep the law contend with them.
Evil men do not understand justice,
But those who seek the LORD understand all.
Proverbs 28:12 (NKJV)
When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory;
But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves.
Proverbs 29:2 (NKJV)
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
Has anyone noticed that the people are groaning about the condition of this country? But it's the judgment of God for sin on the whole nation. What sin? Sexual immorality. Theft. Lawlessness. Bribery. Extortion. Murder. Abortion.
Proverbs 29:4 (NKJV)
The king establishes the land by justice,
But he who receives bribes overthrows it.
From the White House, Congress, Court Systems, State and local governments. The land is overthrown. The immigration crisis. Crime.
Proverbs 29:7 (NKJV)
The righteous considers the cause of the poor,
But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.
The homeless crisis in major and minor cities.
Proverbs 29:16 (NKJV)
When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases;
But the righteous will see their fall.
Not at the ballot box, but when the King of kings and Lord of lords return to establish His everlasting kingdom according to Daniel 2 and Revelation 19.
Proverbs 29:27 (NKJV)
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous,
And he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
Proverbs 25:4-5 (NKJV)
Take away the dross from silver,
And it will go to the silversmith for jewelry.
Take away the wicked from before the king,
And his throne will be established in righteousness.
Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV) "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."
We're living in the last days and this Republic must come to an end.
While we don't know when this nation will end, we're confident that the Lord knows when this will come to an end to establish His kingdom on earth. But before this happens, the final week of Daniel's prophesy will bring upon this earth a time of judgment not seen.
The Lord will judge Israel for their rejection of His Son, and the world will be judged for their rejection of the Lord.
Psalms 2 (NKJV)
Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
“I will declare the decree:
The LORD has said to Me,
You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
The Book of Daniel and the Book of The Apocalypse or Revelation of Jesus Christ will be fulfilled.
Christ will finally bring the lasting rule of His kingdom for 1000 years.
The Messiah (Christ) will return.
But before He does, the Lord will unleash 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, and 7 Bowls of judgment upon the earth. Some of these judgments are interlocking. The Lord will pour His just wrath on impenitent men. The conflict of Armageddon and then Gog and Magog will take place when Jerusalem will be surrounded and the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, will save Israel and establish His 1000 year kingdom.
After 1000 years of Christ's reign have completed, satan will be loosed from his prison to deceive the nations. The final battle of Gog and Magog will take place in Jerusalem, and satan will be cast into the lake of fire forever. Then the dead will be judged at the Great White Throne, and whoever is not found written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire forever.
The United States is the only country that out does all of the other nations of the world when it comes to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
So does elections matter? Yes. Because of Psalm 75. The Lord knows the end from the beginning (see Isaiah 46:9-11).
When the time comes, Christians that's true to the Lord, will be greatly persecuted. The false Christians will be scattered and some of them may even turn on the true believers (see Matthew 10).
Sin will be judged and righteousness will be established forever.
Let's be found praying and witnessing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ so that they would avoid the wrath of God to come.
